Update on General Committee Decisions

Fellow Members, your General Committee has decided to provide a monthly update (except December) , to keep all members abreast of the issues your committee is managing and their decisions. The format will be short and sharp, and more formal minutes of meetings are recorded and lodged as a part of our standard operations.
 
Committee meeting 17th of October 2024,
  1. Goulbourne Murray Water have just reviewed our rates and as a result will be decreased by $1K per annum.
  2. The Icre Breaker regatta was profitable for the club with a circa $6K event profit.
  3. Formal club operating emails are being set up that relate to specific functions at the club (eg commodore@beyc.org.au) which can be handed over as people change roles.
  4. The City council has completed a review of our food operations and an inspection of our site. We need to upgrade tthe foot-operated hand-washing tap to have warm water available. We will start the process to comply.
  5. The city council has agreed to sponsor our upcoming Laser regatta for $2,500 in total. $2,000 cash and $500 in kind for provision of waste bins.
  6. The stand-up freezer has met its end of life, this will be replaced
  7. The recently purchased club Timpenny needs to have the once over to get it up to club spec, a budget of $500. has been approved to do that.
  8. We are developing a strategy to be able to cost effectively promote the club externally through digital marketing channels such as Facebook.
  9. We are creating a list of development and maintenance priorities noting the committee's view on priorities. This will be provided to all members for comment.
  10. We have had significant issues with the septic waste system, this has been reviewed by a specialist company who will provide a recommendation and quote. Goulburn Murray Water is also conduct an audit on our site and obviously this one aspect we must have operating correctly. Unfortunately the necessary upgrades are likely to be expensive.
  11. The financial position of the club is currently healthy.
